The benefits of winter swimming

      “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” Winter doesn’t seem to be a favorable time for many people. When winter arrives, people tend to wrap themselves up with as many clothes as possible and pray for the coming of spring. Winter is often associated with getting colds and flu, and most people are reluctant to go outdoor, let alone taking exercises. However, winter can be a perfect time for sports so as to strengthen your body. Winter swimming among all kinds of winter sports will be a preferable one. Winter swimming helps to enhance your health as well as defend your against the cold, and can train you into a strong—willed and brave individual.

      Winter swimming can heighten your health by reinforcing the functions of heart and lungs and improving the adjustment power of the endocrine system. The deep breathing that occurs in winter swimming helps keep the lungs clear of accumulated mucous and reduce the chance of getting respiratory problems. The cold water will make the running blood speed up so as to strengthen your heart. Moreover winter swimming has a function of promoting internal secretion as well. When your body gets stimulated from cold water, it will secrete a wide range of hormone to help your body work well.

     Winter swimming fortifies your against coldness and keeps a safer distance away from catching a cold. Getting colds and flu from exposure to cold air or water during the winter is just an old wives’ tale; there is no scientific evidence to prove that. In fact, quite the contrary, studies reveal that winter swimming can improve your immunity system. After taking winter swimming, you won’t feel cold easily and coldness is no longer a suffering to you.

     Winter swimming can stimulate the spirit of endurance, nurture the mind of bravery and steel yourself for overcoming difficulties. If you are requested to take a shower with cold water, most of you will shake your heads heavily because you are afraid of coldness. Coldness is just like a lion in the way, and an obstacle to having a cold shower. To a larger extent, coldness is a kind of difficulty in our life. If you step forward to challenge winter swimming, it means that you have become braver and don’t flinch from facing up to coldness. By keeping on winter swimming, you will form a stronger of mind and perseverance in dealing with all kinds of difficulties ahead.

     Winter swimming is a preferable exercise in winter for it can make you stronger both in mind and body as well as defend your against cold. Don’t wrap yourself up in the house, go outdoor and make full use of the winter to improve yourself through winter swimming. Enjoy winter! Enjoy winter swimming!
